East Meets West In Clinics

Throughout more than 30 years in western allopathic medicine as a Laboratory Scientist and Lab Manager in hospitals, I have always maintained an avid interest in alternative and complementary medicine. This interest, combined with a passion for healing people, led me to the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco to study acupuncture and Chinese Herbology.

I traveled to China to study acupuncture and work under Dr. Feng Ninghan and other masters of TCM at Zhejiang Unilversity in Hangzhou, China.

I found myself successfully treating people for conditions such as high blood pressure, heart problems, migraines, asthma, arthritis, immune system deficiency, fatigue, digestive disorders, diabetes, elevated cholesterol and other health problems.

This highly effective form of treatment has recently been introduced into the west and has become the fastest growing form of alternative treatment, surpassing chiropractic in 2001.

Anthony D. Morris and his Chinese Herb Cupboard

I maintain a complete Chinese Herbal pharmacy with raw herbs that I mix into formulas for my patients to cook into decoctions, or teas. I also may suggest dietary changes and additional supplements from the health food store. I draw from as many sources as necessary when treating patients, though my emphasis is always Chinese Medicine. Having knowledge of both eastern and western medicine has given me a broad perspective. Tony treating a sciatica patient in China. At the mention of Chinese medicine, most people think of acupuncture and cringe at the thought of becoming a human pin cushion with needles sticking all over their body. In fact, Chinese medicine includes many powerful methods of treatment such as Chinese herbal decoctions (internal and topical), moxibustion, electro-stimulation, Qi Gong and Tuina massage. Many diseases can be effectively treated without the use of pharmaceutical drugs or surgery.

Generally, western medicine's approach is to relieve the symptoms of disease or pathology with medications or invasive surgical techniques. In contrast, eastern medicine's approach is to balance the body's energy by reestablishing homeostasis and restoring the body's vital health.
